Finance Reporting Accountant (6-month Temp)

Goodman Masson have partnered with an established Financial Services business that are URGENTLY looking for a Finance Reporting Accountant to join them on a 6 month temporary contract.

The role will be based from their offices in Stevenage 2/3 days per week and you will have the flexibility to work from home the other days.

The Financial Reporting Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and ensuring the accuracy of the monthly, quarterly and annual closing accounts of the group of companies in order to meet auditors, Board, regulatory and HMRC requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Monthly

• Complete the monthly closing, plays a key role in period end consolidation of the group accounts, including insurance technical accounts for review by the Head of Finance
• Prepare reconciliations, work papers to support closing accounts and management reports. Ensure that reconciliations and control procedures are maintained accurately, including household insurance technical accounts, reinsurance, claims, recoveries, commissions and investment portfolios.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to team members and other functions, ensures technical balances are correctly recorded in the general ledger
• Prepare/review the accruals and prepayments schedules for the insurance business and process through the general ledger

Quarterly

• Prepare the quarterly closing accounts, plays a key role in period end consolidation of the group accounts, including insurance technical accounts and quarterly reporting pack for review of Head of Finance
• Produce and manage the corporation tax, VAT and IPT returns.
• Ensure returns and payments are made on time
• Draft periodic/annual returns including ABI, PRA, FCA and ONS
• Produce the annual statutory accounts for the group and all subsidiary companies under UK GAAP, including conversion to FRS 102/103

Key Skills/Qualifications Required

• Fully Qualified Accountant
• Experience of management and statutory reporting
• Experience completing company tax returns
• Experience of management and statutory accounts preparation and reporting
• Experience in general accounting, technical accounting with tax experience
